Is Halloween coming, and you want to scare everyone out? Or is it just an ordinary day to freak everyone? Whether it's Halloween or a typical day, this will make your friends go nuts!
The head-in-jar prank has been around forever. It's neither too horrific nor too mild. People will be utterly unprepared because they already have a jar in their fridge so that they won't notice it. With today's technology and Photoshop, it's not that difficult to create an impressive head-in-a-jar image.
All you need is a jar, a photo editor, and a printed photo of your face! Continue reading this to know how you can creep your friends out with this prank. Watch them panic!
Do The Prank
This prank is brilliant. Thanks to optical illusions and a simple photo-editing software technique, you can create a jar with a pickled human head inside. This is a terrific way to get people to scream when they open the fridge at work or at home. In terms of Halloween pranks, the head in a jar is the most straightforward and most successful.
Ready these materials:
-
Photoshop or any photo-editing software
-
Large or small jar
-
Food coloring
-
Printer
-
Lamination
Step 1: Prep the image
Take a picture of you (or you can also take a photo of your victim so it would be more traumatizing for them to see their head in a jar), preferably with a blank look, should be taken from the front.
Step 2: Photoshop
You will be using your Photoshop skills in this step. Crop the image to expose the head and some of the neck, and then broaden it by about 50% using photo editing software or an app. There are lots of photo editing apps, but even though every editing program differs, the fundamentals should be the same for everyone.
Step 3: Check the jar
In such a case, you're in luck because you may just reuse the container you currently own. If you're looking for a jar, make sure it has a wide opening; the closer the top of the image is to the lid, the better the effect is likely to be. Smaller jars are preferable (imagine a shrunken head in a jar!). If the jar is too tall, you may not be able to print the photo large enough. A 9-inch jar is a maximum height that can be achieved.
From the bottom of the jar to the point where it narrows at the top, take a measurement.
Step 4: Print the photo
Using an editing application that allows you to change the image's dimensions in inches is the simplest method to achieve it. Make sure to lock the aspect ratio before adjusting the image's height. The problem is that the majority of programs don't allow you to change the size of an image in inches. However, the perfect size for your head should be half an inch smaller than the straight part of the jar you measured.
Step 5: Prepare the printed photo.
Make sure the photo fits in the empty jar by cutting it out and putting it in there. If you wet the edges, make sure it has dried first before doing anything else. Next is to laminate it. It would be best to have easy access to a lamination service if you don't own one. Regardless, contact paper will work well too. But when you use contact paper, be advised that there may be some water in the image. If that occurs, it won't be disastrous; in fact, the result may be quite pleasing. You may wish to keep the photo dry until the time comes for your Halloween display to set up.
Step 6: Prepare the jar
There should be a few inches of space at the top of the container for stirring. Add food coloring to create a murky color — green and red seem to be the most popular choices. The likelihood is that the final shade will be too dark once you've achieved the desired hue. Once the colored water has been drained, add clear water to the top of the jar, and swirl! There is no need to rough up the edges if you already have a printout that you want to use. For best results in the jar, consider enlarging the image broader before printing.
